Misekai is a Japanese pop music duo formed in 2022 by male composer and vocalist Amaarashi and female vocalist Chisa. Operating under the central concept of creating music inspired directly by visual art and photographs, the group made their official debut with the digital Ever in January 2023. Distributed through major digital streaming platforms and Pony Canyon, the project translates illustrative narratives into soundscapes, frequently collaborating with digital illustrators and photographers to build interconnected storytelling experiences around each release. Musically, Misekai incorporates elements of modern J-pop, synth-pop, acoustic balladry, and rock, characterized by the dynamic interplay between Chisa's airy, emotional vocals and Amaarashi's grounded singing and melodic arrangements. Their compositions rely heavily on layered piano melodies, rich acoustic and electric guitar lines, driving drum programming, and subtle orchestral or electronic textures. Key tracks that highlight their signature sound and visual-songwriting synergy include Ever, 104Hz, Sairuiya, and Colorful, alongside their debut full-length studio album Artrium. Misekai emerged as part of a prominent wave of concept-driven Japanese musical acts that bridge the gap between visual artwork and digital audio media. Their novel approach of composing songs around specific illustrations gained significant attention within online music communities, generating millions of views across video-sharing platforms and digital streaming outlets. Beyond their standalone achievements, member Amaarashi gained broader public recognition through his creative endeavors and high-profile marriage to the late singer-songwriter Sayuri, cementing Misekai's place within the contemporary Japanese indie and mainstream pop scenes.
