“newhaven” is a 6 piece band out of dallas, tx. starting as a post-hardcore with piano project by dueling vocalists (matt fowler & luke griffin), newhaven evolved over the years since its conception to incorporate styles of music from all backgrounds. the band first saw success after the leading single off the self-titled ep, madame la mort dropped a music video in july of 2016. the video caught attention from viewers across the world and helping the ep to achieve streams in the millions. after gaining some traction with the ep, the band played many notable festivals such as vans warped tour, so what?! music festival, unsilent night, and that sparked a few tours across the us. starting as soon as 2017, the band announced a hiatus from performing live shows to hit the studio and record a sophomore release — this time a full-length lp with 13 tracks. prior to the 2019 release, the band had already managed to gather interest in the lp with a few hundred thousand streams on singles such as dead, attn:, and don't waste it. the new album, ultimately entitled “ruok”, features similar stylings to their ep along with an expanded flavor of modern hip-hop and latin influences.
