Colonial Militia Vol. 2



Orango was formed in Oslo in 1999 by three friends with a shared passion for classic rock, three-part vocals, and hand-crafted music. The founding members were Helge Bredeli Kanck (guitar/vocals), Trond Slåke (drums/vocals), and Karl-Joakim Wisløff (bass/vocals), who knew each other through family and military connections. Initially, the band included a keyboardist, but logistical challenges led to the band quickly becoming a trio. They first recorded the EP Mind and Money in 2000, followed by Something Good in 2001. Their first album, Villa Exile, was recorded in a self-built studio in a remote house on the Norwegian coast and released in 2004. After a lengthy hiatus, Orango made a surprise return in 2011 with the album Confessions, embarking on a new creative phase with regular releases and tours. Albums such as Colonial Militia Vol. 1 & 2, Battles, The Mules of Nana, Evergreens, and most recently Mohican (2022) demonstrate their musical evolution and their loyalty to the classic rock sound. Orango draws strong inspiration from classic rock 'n' roll, blues, and Southern rock. Their main musical influences include Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Creedence Clearwater Revival—with their earthy, direct rock style.
