Hands Off My Riot
Politics from Rotterdam, NL play songs; songs that seem to write themselves. Fans and reviewers have compared them to all kinds of bands and artists ranging from The Velvet Underground to Giant Sand and Spoon. Add a messy splash of ragged poppiness and some bluegrass harmonies and you're getting close. One reviewer possible said it best when he wrote: Politics seem to play the impossible combination of broken rock like Pavement and stadium rock like U2, while managing to still sound like Politics: a good portion of silliness without neglecting the fair dose of deep shit. Love & Molasses is Politics' second full-length album and will be released on October 16 2010. It is the follow-up to their unanimously well received 2007 debut “Hands Off My RIot”. Love & Molasses was again recorded with producer and engineer Remko Schouten at the helm (Pavement, Mono, Coparck, Caesar). While remaining songsmiths at heart this new album sees Politics explore an edgier, more experimental side of pop adding more crunch to their sparkle. Politics was chosen Local Hero of June 2007 by LiveXS and Ondergrond Topper in leading Dutch music magazine Oor. Their first single, “Borders (Even if it Takes All Night)”, was chosen Rotterdam single of the week on Megastad FM in summer 2007. Politics have played about 80 shows including Melkweg, Paradiso (upstairs), Paard van Troje, Patronaat and Bibelot and has shared the stage with bands like Moss, Alamo Race Track, Bettie Serveert and The Madd. www.politicstheband.com Read more on Last.fm.
