Qypthone are known for their superfast, very danceable Acid-Jazz-Bossanova-Japanese-Lounge-Pop-Happy-Weird-Sound, whose tasteful references to the '60s and '70s are spiced up with computer game elements. The band used to appear on stage with Pizzicato Five and is working with landmark Japanese producers like Yasuharu Konishi (Readymade Records), Mansfield, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Tetsuo Sunaga and Nori Ikeda. Qypthone isn't only a synonym for sunny mood, but also a spacy interest in science: The band's name is a Japanese word play on the name Kip Thorne, a contemporary scientist who is occupied with constructing a time machine. Qypthone is being pronounced Kip-thone. Luc Besson chose a track made of computer game sound samples by Qypthone for his movie Wasabi.
