Para Armar
Radiokijada A journey through five centuries, where ancestral traditions meet the new digital world. Rodolfo Muñoz and Christoph H. Müller, met in Paris in the early nineties and together they created an amazing work of art - Radiokijada. The aim of this album was to bring Afro-Peruvian rural traditional music to the world’s attention and interpret it in a new way. An amazing leap from the past straight into the future. Rodolfo comes from Peru, a composer and percussionist trained in Lima and in the Conservatory of Havana. Christoph is from the Gotan Project, a trio combining electronica western beats with Tango. Their music has been featured on various high profile movies such as Shall We Dance? with Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere and many TV shows such as Sex in the City and Top Gear. Many Peruvian instruments have been used in the making of this album including the cajita (church money box) and ‘quijada’, (the skeleton of the lower jaw of a donkey) which the African slaves of Peru reinvented as a percussion instrument as they weren't allowed to use normal instruments by their owners.
