Rapsoul was a German hip-hop group. Jan Färger and Steve Neumann initially collaborated on remixes for the Frankfurt-based record label 3p. Among their early work were remixes for Glashaus’s single Du, for which the band rewrote the chorus, and a remix for Sabrina Setlur’s single Baby. Performing under the name Dreckskind & Pechvogel—Jan as Dreckskind and Steve as Pechvogel—the duo completed their first joint appearances and released an EP titled LebensArt. Planet radio was among the first broadcasters to recognize their talent, featuring one of their songs in the Do It Yourself segment in 2004. Shortly after, they became part of the Chill-&-Grill-Tour, which toured Hessian swimming pools during the summer. The band also attracted attention from RTL during this period. Färger and Neumann, together with soul singer C. J. Taylor, renamed the group Rapsoul, reflecting their musical style. Following successful live performances, Rapsoul joined the Backstreet Boys as an opening act during their October 2005 tour of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Their debut album, Unbeschreiblich, produced in collaboration with Offenbach-based producer team Nachtwandler, was released on March 31, 2006. The first single, Verzweifelt, released on November 25, 2005, reached the German Top 20 and remained on the charts for several weeks. The second single, Gott schenk’ ihr Flügel, was released on March 17, 2006, followed by the third single, Du und ich, on June 23, 2006. All three singles charted in Germany, and the band embarked on their first headliner tour in 2006. The fourth single from the album, Sonnenschein, was released in 2006 and featured former DSDS finalist Vanessa Jean Dedmon. On February 14, 2008, Rapsoul participated in the Bundesvision Song Contest with the song König der Welt, representing Hessen and finishing in eighth place. The group performed their final concerts in December 2009 before disbanding. C. J. Taylor released a solo album, Nicht so wie früher, in 2011 and an EP, Meine Welt, in 2016, but neither charted in Germany.
