Forced To Regress



Formed in 2010 shackles quickly released some dogshit recordings with a subpar and unskilled line up. the band was lucky to make it past playing a handful of shows without falling apart. In early 2011 a better line up came together after the removal of the then drummer and the addition of Eddie and Dj (drums an bass respectively). Just as the band was beginning to play and jam regularly an email was received from the defunct Sydney death metal band who claimed to own the name 'shackles', to avoid problematic butting of heads the 'e' in shackles was cleverly replaced with a sigma. This slight name change in some ways was a blessing in disguise as it meant the previously recorded material could be disowned and a fresh start could be made without having to start a whole new band (however some old songs were kept and re-recorded under the new moniker). In August 2011 SHACKLΣS recorded their first 7 (which was released after the band had already recorded their 2nd EP dissolve to nothing ) in January 2013. Eddie (who played drums on the 1st 2 eps) left the band in February to be replaced by Ben Smith who had played in a handful of other nth nsw/ sth qld bands. With Ben the band began writing songs immediately. In June 2012 josh stucken aka stookes played some 2 shows in Perth with the band as well as 4 tracks for a split with Chicago grind band WORN OUT. When the band returned from Perth they continued to play and write with Ben and recorded in September, shortly after Stookes came to the east coast for a one month stay, this time was taken advantage of and the band recorded another couple of songs for another ep in October . Ben went overseas in early 2013 just as Stookes returned to the east coast to live which meant the band could continue playing regularly. The first recorded output with Ben was released April 2013 in the form of a single sided 12 EP. Once Ben had returned from overseas the two drummers were available who could fill shows depending on each persons schedule, shows were (and still are) played. Experimenting with both drummers at once. this experimentation will come to paly in the upcoming lp (recorded last june).In August the sessions recorded with Stookes in October 2012 were release in the form of the the 'disposed of' 7.
