Crème Frech
Samajona was a German girl which achieved moderate success in early 2000s and released two albums before they split in 2004. The band was originally centered around Sabrina Ziegler, the daughter of the former member of popular east German band Wir and later solo artist, Wolfgang Ziegler. Ziegler shared the vocal duties with Marleen Heitzmann, while the two remaining band members were in and out on revolving door basis, mostly singing backing vocals and dancing. The original Samajona, hence its name, composed of Ziegler, Heitzmann, Johanna „Joe“ Klum and Nadja Loddoch, thus taking its name from the band members' initials. Their first single, Warum?was released in the summer of 2001 and sold over 100 000 copies. The follow-up, Wird es heute passieren?, was known for its energetic dance routine and the third single, So Schwer was the last to be released from the debut album Crème Frech. The band won the Goldene Stimmgabel in 2002. For the second album, Klum and Loddoch left the band and two new members, Mariangela „Marie“ Scelsi and miss Germany contestant Kirsten „Kirsty“ Merz replaced them. The album Spurwechsel was promoted with a somewhat racy and provocative image compared to Creme Frech and three singles were released - Sag es, The Car U Wanna Drive and Miss You. WIth Sag Es, Samajona got into the German top 20 for the first and only time. Its English version, Listen to Me, featured lyrics written by Christina Milian. After Spurwechsel, Scelsi and Merz left the band, soon followed by Heitzman. Ziegler was accompanied by new members - Claudia „Claudi“ Uterhardt, Julia „Jule“ Titze and the new co-lead vocalist, J.-Ann „Jenny“ Wilson. However, this line-up did not produce any singles and the band split sometime in 2004. Nowadays, Sabrina Ziegler has released a single with her father, after having worked as a TV reader and a chroreographer. Mariangela Scelsi is an actress and Johanna Klum is a TV-host.
