HHQC - La force du nombre
Samian was born in Pikogan, in the Abitibi region of northern Quebec, in 1983. When he was 12 years old, he left the reservation and lived in various cities in Quebec. Having forgotten his native language, he relearned it with his grandmother's help, and became the first rapper to express himself in French and Algonquin. He got his start thanks to Wapikoni Mobile, a mobile recording and film studio which travels throughout Quebec giving a voice to young First Nations people. After meeting at the Voix d'Amérique festival in 2006, he joined with Loco Locass to write La Paix des Braves, which talks about the history of Native Americans since the arrival of white people. He aims to revive his ancestral culture using a modern means of expression, namely rap. He also denounces the precarious situation in which many young people live. For his first album, Face à soi même he collaborated with Loco Locass, Horg, Anodajay and Shauit, a Montagnais rapper. This album was released in Fall 2007 on Anodajay's label 7e Ciel. Samian was also one of the MCs who contributed to the 93 Tours tour sponsored by Sirius and Bande à Part. Read more on Last.fm.
