Hayati Ahla
Shahinaz studied music at th Music Institute in Cairo. She has been singing for 7 years and sings solo with Slim Sahab at the Opera. Her favorite singers are Oum Kalthoum, Farid El Atrache and George Wassouf. She loves cats, seafood, and reading. She got her big break after participating in Star Maker, a short-lived Egyptian talent search program. She then released her first single, Oulli Oulli, a remake of Anna Vissi's To Poly Poly. Though her debut album, Ala Eih, was received quite well in Egypt, it wasn't until Shahinaz released her second album that she achieved true success. Shahinaz's 2005 album, Aheb A'ishlak, marked the start of her contract with Saudi label Rotana. The title song was wildly successful, and the singles that followed, Kaman Kaman and Malnash Makan, were equally popular. In 2008, Kaman Kaman was translated into Turkish by Günce Koral, and released as Siyah, Shahinaz's 2006 album was released amidst much fanfare, and the haunting video that was released for the first single, Ensani, showed her in a new light. The album was not the critical success its predecessor was, however. The conservative Shahinaz is now rumoured to have retired from music. Read more on Last.fm.
