After his debut single, qcpyhn2, on Renraku's compilation REALTIME (released February of this year), Slace presents his debut EP. SSD expands on his maiden voyage with Renraku and explores even more range. Abstract voyages of musique concrète and ambient are run through various genre blends between bass, IDM, halftime, and glitch. The music evolves at the blink of an eye, full of unhinged time signatures and mutated sounds in every measure. Equipped with synths and Ableton, isolation from society in great parts led to a majority of the vibe felt on SSD, creating the EP over the last year while dealing with depression, existential crisis, agoraphobia, and a breakup. The innovation of electronic sound from artists like Tsuruda, EPROM, and Little Snake are felt across the heavier moments of the EP, while the drifting hypnotic mysticism of sounds from the likes of Loscil and William Basinski plant their feet into the EP by its end. A bold statement of shock and awe dynamics that goes beyond convention and relies heavily on emotional impact and sheer adventure. Read more on Last.fm.
