Winner of the June 2006 Dwelling of Duels competition, the source material from which Devil's Heaven is derived is actually Goemon's Great Adventure (also known as Mystical Ninja 2 Starring Goemon) for the Nintendo 64. It opens with an ensemble of traditional Japanese sounds; a shamisen/shakuhachi/taiko combination that builds to the introduction of Snappleman's signature hard electric guitars and synth at the 00:30 mark. The instruments in the opening remain as backing throughout the song, and each has a short section that features it. Read more on Last.fm.

SnappleMan is the online alias of Andreas Kotsamanidis, a member of the video game music arrangement community. SnappleMan was a project director of Project Chaos and contributed to many of its tracks.
