the lonesome planetarium
Somasis, real name Kylie McClain, is an ambient pop/breakcore/trip hop musician from Concord, North Carolina. She started making music in 2010, but didn't release anything until 2013. Somasis' first EP was sleepless, released on April 2nd, 2013. Her debut album was the lonesome planetarium, a twenty-two track album of ambient songs, released on April 13th, 2013. Afterwards her music shifted towards a more breakcore/drum and bass style, resulting in A Most Beautiful Sight, on August 23rd, 2013. In November 2013, following the destruction of Typhoon Haiyan in Southeast Asia, she released the EP Scattered, We Unified, donating all profits to recovery efforts in the region. Following a near six-month silence, Somasis' next release would be The Infinite Sadness on May 31st, 2014. The five-track EP featured a selection of music from an in-progress album.Live From The Tapedeck Spaceship was released on October 10th, 2014, and included all tracks from The Infinite Sadness (some with slight adjustments) and the addition of a further ten. The album shows a markedly different and plunderphonic slant than previous releases. spirit / songs for lovers, her first album since 2014 and likely her most varied and most popular album, was released June 28th, 2019. It is comprised almost entirely of original lyrics and a pop-oriented sound. Somasis has also appeared on Rainblood & Vomit, a compilation album of harsh breakcore, hardcore, noisecore, and other extreme music genres. Read more on Last.fm.
