In the tradition of the great vintage rock supergroups, Stepanian is-first and foremost-a band. Like Bon Jovi and Santana before them, their moniker comes from that of their front man, Eric Stepanian. However, in this band each member contributes something unique and essential to the mix. Stepanian's signature sound is unmistakable. This Boston quartet exhibits the explosiveness of radio pop with the organic soul of a smoky barroom. Their live show simmers with a provocative brand of lyrical pop songwriting, sweet baritone vocals, tongue-twisting saxophone hooks and a rhythm section that won't let even the shyest of crowds stand still. The unparalleled camaraderie that exists among the band is extended to their audiences and leaves new and old fans coming back for what Stepanian can only describe as Crazy Rock Love. Stepanian exploded onto the college and club scene in early 2005 after spending much of 2004 polishing and developing. Opening the year with two captivating showcases at the NACA Northeast Conference and the NACA Mid-Atlantic Festival, sold-out shows in Boston soon followed. Their success placed them on bills alongside national acts such as Howie Day, Rusted Root, Maroon5 and Jason Mraz, which catapulted the band into a frenzy of attention. The persistent snow typical of New England winter continued to fall in February 2005 as Stepanian put the finishing touches on their anything-but-ordinary release, Autumn She Leaves. A musically diverse record of crafty pop, intelligent lyrics, and unsurpassed musicianship with a unique instrumentation promised nothing but fuel for the band's burgeoning fan base. Produced and engineered by Dave Chalfant (The Neilds, Erin McKeown), the record features a guest vocal appearance by Universal recording artist Stephen Kellogg. Twilight, a flute-infused rock song, is featured on Awarestore.com's Earsnacks Vol. 6 compilation. Stepanian's recent success comes from their humble, but impressive, beginnings. In 2003 the band recorded their debut EP, For Lack of Better Words, at Dragonfly Studios (Dave Matthews Band, OAR). The album, produced by Chris Keup (Jason Mraz, Rachael Yamagata) and Stewart Myers (Agents of Good Roots), features one of the band's signature tunes in Call Me When You're Famous. ABC Family also took notice of the band when they licensed These Days, a spirited and lyrical track for their new show Knock First. Today Stepanian maintains a busy performance schedule while constantly writing and refining new material. Fall of 2006 marks the release of wait out the rain another collaboration with producer Dave Chalfant. The EP finds Stepanian taking their next artistic step with memorable melodies and new sounds.
