Más Gas
SUGARLESS is one of the most important Independent Rock bands on the Spanish stage. It was born in 1994, when Frankie (guitar), after one year as a student in the Musicians Institute (Los Angeles, USA), joined his style and influences with Samuel (drums) and Ivahn's (voice) ideas. They were testing several bass players and finally, in 1997 they knew Joseba and built together a project which supposed a medley of the last century's end tendences and this century's beginning ones: funk, hip-hop, grunge, hardcore, acid-jazz, punk, rock... They combine Avant-guard structures and original treatments in their songs with a clear 70's echo in their guitars and drums sound which, with the personal bass lines from Joseba, give to SUGARLESS a powerful base on which Ivahn developpes his registers (from extremely sensitive parts to smashing screams and tearing shouts) and fits his ironic or satiric lyrics (depending on the cases) that sums up the four members ideology. After the surprising and unexpected success of their first album Asegúramelo (2000, -assure it to me- run out in the main shops and stores all over Spain) and the original and simple design of their clothes and merchandising that made them sell thousands of T-shirts and sweaters in only two years, they edited with ANFECA MUSIC their second CD Más gas -More gas-, available from December 2001.
