愛屋及烏 (Love Before Everything)
Sunbiz Sunbiz was born in Vancouver to ethnic Chinese parents from Shanghai and he eventually moved to China where he is now a full-fledged citizen of the cosmic universe Besides sharing first names with legendary musician Sun Ra, and a similar cosmic philosophy that space is the place, Sunbiz also speaks through music so that the world will listen. Creating music for almost 10 years and covering genres from reggae, hip-hop to video game and movie soundtracks including charting on Canadian radio and iTunes, the safe path of a parallel life working in banking was soon shunted to reclaim the musical baton passed on from his mother’s pre-Cultural Revolution Chinese Opera legacy. Sunbiz’s debut ‘Love Before Everything’ encapsulates the diversity of influences that has manifested as the formal first chapter of his musical output with a daring and bold visitation of music that he himself loves, defying disposable chart trends. Old school hip-hop and funk play out their rhymes and beats that recall a distant era traversing the Bronx to Minneapolis but produced exquisitely on the east coast banks of the Suzhou river in Shanghai by Sunbiz. Probably one of the best hip-hop/ funk albums ever to come out of China, the smoking, majestic opener, “Humble in the Jungle” featuring the vocals of Stace Prints time travels to bring us back to the roots of hip-hop and funk juxtaposed by the strains of modern Chinese hip-hop of “Let’s Go” featuring Tangking. Jurassic 5 lend their vocals to an all-new version of their track “Red Hot” reincarnated as “Dap The 5 Kings (It’s Red Hot)” with some masterful production work by Sunbiz which Akil the MC himself describes as “dope”. This is just the first act from a dazzling new name on the block. Hip-hop and funk history just had a re-run defying time and space in the alternate universe of Sunbiz Read more on Last.fm.
