Superbug surgiu em 1993, em Florianópolis, derivando das ideias adolescentes principalmente de Fábio Bianchini (na época, um promissor colaborador do inesquecível Fútio Indispensável) e Diógenes Fischer. Vinny Cirigliano (vocals), Steve Marchena (guitar), Chris Urban (bass), Kevin Hammer (keyboards), and Tony Porter (drums) comprise one of the few current bands that carries the torch passed on by Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin to the modern era and beyond! Superbug's formation in January 2009 was a whirlwind since a US tour had been booked to start in less than 6 months from the first jam. The band went into high gear to write, record, and release a 7-song EP, The Buzzzzz, so that they'd have songs to play and promote on tour. Although this series of events occurred opposite the norm, it provided Superbug with a quick fan base and momentum to keep refining their sound. After 7 months of gigging and writing new tunes, Superbug enlisted the talents of keyboardist, Kevin Hammer. With Kevin, the band found a more diverse sound palette to draw from and started producing the first 6 tracks featured on the new release, Closer to the Brain.
