There are two groups by the name 'The Surfers'. 1. Long before Jack Johnson and Donavon Frankenreiter hit the scene with chilled acoustic tunes, three world class surfers (the ever-cool Rob Machado, Peter King, and the greatest of all time - Kelly Slater) put together a cd full of relaxed and deeply layered tracks. When most expected to hear thrash and punk this trio put out a set of laid back, layered and surprisingly deep tunes. 2. A Dutch group consisting of Iwan Groenendijk, Nico Fonteyn, Paul Braaksma, Esther Oosterbeek, Marijke Meyer, and Cathy Leonupun, who had a one-hit wonder with the song Windsurfin' in 1979.
