Swaha performs soulful, uplifting music inspired by the Hindu musical tradition with vocals in Sanskrit backed by a variety of unique musical instruments. The songs are composed by Meenakshi and Ron Reid. Many are based on traditional Sanskrit chants. Meenakshi is a teacher of hatha yoga and yoga philosophy, leading kirtan, chanting workshops and yoga classes in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.. Ron Reid is co-owner of the highly respected Astanga yoga studio Downward Dog Yoga Centre. Swaha's most recent CD, Vishun's Dream, was released in February 2007. The style is an eclectic mix of modern grooves and traditional sounds, blended with Sanskrit chant. This unique sound will be familiar to anyone who has attended Swaha's 'Yoga Lounge' events.
