Swing’it was founded by the Norwegian band leader Martin Jarl whilst studying jazz music in London, this band has developed into one of the most successful trad jazz bands in Norway and Europe. They take the audience on a journey 100 years back in time to the 1920s New Orleans, telling stories about the roaring 20s and the foundation of jazz; about glamour, glitter and the Great Gatsby; about bootleggers, speakeasies and illegal parties during the Prohibition and flappers and dappers partying their nights away in the opulence and decadence of the Golden Era! Their music is the perfect blend between vintage and modern; inspired by the old, but presented fresh and new. Taking the traditional jazz for what it actually was – party music – and mixing it with poppy arrangements and a great live show results in a unique atmosphere that puts a smile on everyone’s face. They’ve played at several of the biggest jazz festivals in Norway and UK, including more than 60 concerts altogether at Kongsberg Jazzfestival, Molde Jazzfestival, Edinburgh Jazz Festival and Sildajazz. In 2018 they also made it all the way to the semi finals of TV2s talent show “Norway’s Got Talent” where they entertained the whole country with jazzy covers of Disney classics. In 2019 they released their very first single – Party Like it’s 1923 – a story about flappers and dappers partying like the Great Gatsby, together with their first music video, followed by an electro swing remix together with Teminite. This was followed by two more singles released in late 2019 and early 2020, Booze Cruise and Champagne, culminating in their first EP in April 2020 titled “1923”. Their second music video followed soon after, telling the story of an illegal Prohibition Party on board a ship along the Mississippi River – a story they made real when they went to New Orleans in 2020 playing at the famous “Steamboat Natchez”. In 2022 the band released their debut album The Story of Storyville which received good critics. In 2023 the band participated in Melodi Grand Prix (the Norwegian qualifiers for Eurovision) with their song PROHIBITION Read more on Last.fm.
