Ulrich Schnauss / Isan Remixes
Televise are an electronic / shoegaze band formed by ex-Slowdive drummer/vocalist Simon Scott in 2004. They released their debut single Smile in December 2004 followed by an EP, the 3-track Outside Out, in April 2005. Debut album Songs to sing in A&E was released soon afterwards. Simon Scott was born in Cambridge in the early seventies and spent his early teens drumming for The Charlottes who released the love happy album on Bristol’s Subway records and a second album on Cherry Red. After three successful years with slowdive, including working with Brian Eno and inspiring many a musician to enjoy all things smothered in reverb and delay, Simon left to work as a session drummer including a brief stint in Chapterhouse. Scott formed alternative/noise/electronica/drone outfit Inner sleeve in 1997 writing the songs, playing guitar (loudly) and singing lead vocals but after two singles and one album on Fierce Panda he split the group and drummed for Lowgold who signed to Nude records in 1999. After Grandaddy and Coldplay tours, a critically-acclaimed debut album and severe musical differences Simon left to move back to song writing. Scott formed Televise in 2004 after a rare sighting of his hometown legend and ex Pink Floyd hero Syd Barrett inspired him to continue songwriting and make the music I want to make. After releasing the Outside Out single with a full band on Club AC30 in May, 2005 was spent recording songs for a debut full-length with Pat Collier in South London. Televise also contributed tracks to the soundtrack of Life On Mars, an award winning Australian short film and played shows in 2006 with Isan, Yellow 6, Cougar and Greg Davis. Travelling on London Underground and the relentless intense sound of modern living provided sonic inspiration for the 2006 debut album Songs to sing in A&E as Simon recorded sounds to lay over instrumental tracks. Televise also draw from electronic music using samples including Simon's old school band member Jamie Liddell, now signed solo to warp records, taking his voice and shredding it through a broken laptop. Nine songs that include the single I Don't Know Why, a cover of the Ultra Vivid Scene classic Mercy Seat and 14 minute drone epic Never Alone. 2007 saw Televise release new strings and wires cd, a more ambient, electronic and minimal direction that was written and recorded by Simon in Cambridge. Televise also release the remixes by artists such as Isan, Port Royal, Mole Harness, Sebastien Roux, Ulrich Schnauss and more on the from anywhere...to anyone album. 2008 saw Secret Valentine released as a limited edition album but it has resurfaced on Simon's KESHHHHHH Recordings label in Spring called volume 3 repackaged with seven other tracks; www.keshhhhhh.com.
