Baby No. 666
There are at least 2 artists called Thora: 1.) A German Electronica project 2.) A Gothic Metal band THORA has been called the Gothic Metal discovery of the year by the press. Indeed, magazines like Orkus, Zillo and Sonic Seducer are full of praise and feature extremely positive reviews about this Aachen-based band which already formed in 1999. Only few bands manage to combine musical class, versatility and charisma to a degree that makes them stand out from the crowd. THORA definitely can be called such a lucky exception. With their second album Total World Paranoia, worthy successor to the debut feature Cross Nailed, they convince with strong melodies, eclectic song structures, fat riffs and intoxicating vibes. Musical one-sidedness is not their thing, so in addition to straight rock songs and dark ballads many musical surprises can be experienced during the one-hour acoustic journey. Where other bands always resort to the same schemes, THORA simply come up with a cavalcade of original potential hits. Thus, it wasn`t too great a surprise that the band managed to win both the well-renowned Jägermeister Band Competition, awarding them the opportunity to play as support band for HIM, but also to rank first in the Metal Hammer Battle, granting them a successful appearance at the Wacken Open Air 2004. Likewise, THORA again managed to completely convince the audience at the WGT 2005 in Leipzig, this time also arousing the interest of Fear Section`s mastermind Chris Pohl, resulting in the longed-for record contract. Under production supervision by Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69 etc.), an album full of potential hits has been created, which doesn`t have to hide behind any current major production concerning sound quality. THORA combine catchy melancholic melodies of bands like Dreadful Shadows or HIM with the metal impact of Paradise Lost at their heydays while featuring their own original style which will not only take the Gothic and Metal discos by storm, but also conquer the concert halls and festival stages.
