Shade of Blue
Torments is a Swedish metalcore band formed in Stockholm. The band debuted in 2019 with the release of their first EP, Endless Waves, followed by live performances at festivals like High 5ive Summer Fest and touring Germany with fellow metalcore bands Adept and Aviana. The original lineup consisted of Vincent Rylander on vocals, Kenny Silvergren on bass and backing vocals, Ludvig Svensson on guitar, Victor Sandberg on guitar, and Thomas Östling on drums. Their rising popularity was acknowledged at the start of 2020 when they won Best Newcomer and Best Music Video at the High 5ive Music Awards. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the band experienced significant setbacks. Three members departed for personal reasons, leaving only Kenny and Ludvig. With a nearly complete lineup overhaul and the loss of their primary songwriter, Kenny and Ludvig decided to rebuild rather than disband. In 2024, Torments re-emerged with new members Fabian Fagerberg (drums) and Linus Kangasharju (guitar), both of whom have a background in Stockholm’s metal scene. Ludvig went from bass to guitar, while Kenny went from bass to vocals. Fabian, previously in Awake the Dreamer with Kenny, contributed to the band’s refreshed sound on their latest EP, Dream Again, which was released on March 29, 2024. Following this release, Torments returned to live performances, with a Stockholm consert on June 29. To ensure high-quality production on Dream Again, Torments collaborated with well-known industry figures, including Buster Odeholm (associated with Vildhjarta and Humanity's Last Breath) and James Carey (who has worked with artists like Drake), as well as Sushant Vohra for mixing and graphic design. The band’s collaborations reflect their commitment to creating polished and intense musical experiences as they re-establish themselves within the metalcore genre. Read more on Last.fm.
