She started making songs while playing the piano from early age. During college, she was a composer and keyboardist for a band which released some album from major record company. When she turned 24, she mastered the accordions from Hisae Kijima which became the main instrument in her activities. She has participated in many artist's album such as Yae, Isako Saneyoshi and Jessica as accordion/piano player and chorus under the name Rie Yoshihara. In parallel, she self-released her solo piano album Water cress (1999) which was recorded in a hall and her accordion solo album RIEACCORDION'MEMU' (2001). She is now into the design of retro accordion, toy piano,toy organs etc. and collects a lot of them. Not to mention, the analog warmth of these instruments make her music special. She also activates in an experimental music group Small Color with Yusuke Ohnishi, and in the toy instrument group Tamago with violinist HONZI and ShanShanTyphoons' Naoki Nishimura.
