1. Turboslut is a Washington, DC area all-girl grunge/punk quartet. (www.turboslut.org) TURBOSLUT materialized to resist the meaninglessness consuming its constituents. Ineffable guiding principles, the least of which any common musical purpose, converged in haphazard seance with the astral plane, and an order of four was born: unapologetic, lurching, recklessly honed. An unassuming public bore first witness in harrowing sagas of of collision hypnosis, incantation, and cryptic messaging. To the delight of some and the alarm of many more, the order blossomed into an elusive paradigm of cassette-taped documentation, vague iconography, and live performance as its occult electricity and crushing, unprecedented girl-sludge rent a scorching path across the landscape of a jilted, belligerent counter-culture. 2.
