Golden Lights



There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Twinkle (born Lynn Annette Ripley, 15 July 1948, Surbiton, Surrey, England - 21 May 2015) was a singer-songwriter. She made #4 in the U.K. at the end of 1964 with her self-penned debut Terry, a maudlin disc about the death of a (fictional) biker boyfriend. Leader of the Pack it wasn't, yet the record caused a furor, with accusations of bad taste leading to its ban from the BBC (and, most likely, aiding its rapid rise to popularity). Only 16 at the time, Twinkle owed her rapid entry into the studio to a then-boyfriend in the then-popular vocal group the Bachelors, who passed on her demo to his manager. Jimmy Page was among the high-profile session musicians who played on Terry. Twinkle was a lean mod blonde somewhat in the mold of Marianne Faithfull, she recorded several less successful follow-ups in the mid-'60s, most of which were light emulations of the New York girl group style. Vocally she bore a passing resemblance to Lesley Gore, though in an even whiter style (if such a thing was possible), making Gore seem downright funky in comparison. Twinkle, wasn't a mere creation of the image factory, though; she wrote much of her own material, including Golden Lights, her only other single to approximate hit status. After six singles for Decca, Twinkle retired from the studio in 1966, at around the time of her 18th birthday, although she did record a single for Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate label in 1969. You better have a good stereo system or a decent pair of headphones in order to listen to their stuff. This is complex, challenging stuff . Something to push your brain around and probably make you dance. They are here to battle each other with hard hitting rhythms and beats, everything being ultra distorted. It is very difficult to escape it. They give us a good dose of sped up, confusing beats and mystery construction. Over the psychotic, twisted & tribal rythmic noise are childish melodies that regenerate technologically-advanced worlds on each track. The result is very body-oriented, in the way the beats and the rhythms are both very danceable or trance-inductive : a deep connection to their neo-industrial landscape, and instead of rage feels a blind devotion to work the decks. 3) Twinkle is a Japanese band with ex-members of the almighty Fruity. 4) Twinkle were a Scandinavian act who became popular in the early days of satellite television owing to their appearing topless in their video Hello which was heavily played on Lifestyle TV's Satellite Jukebox. 5) Twinkle is a Japanese Denpa-Kei group consisting of two members (Choco and Milk) Read more on Last.fm.
