Early days Upskirts was started by a growing urge to go ape shit once in a while and it was all initiated by a call from Jack to Haffy: -Do you wanna start a band? -Sure. Jack had been playing guitar for a while, so his role was set. Haffy couldn't produce a single note on an instrument if his life depended on it, so vocals was the obvious choice. After a while they were joined by two of Haffy's room mates, Kim and Bongo. Kim had just recently started playing guitars but Bongo hadn't played drums since primary school and had to buy a drum kit on credit. But that wasn't going to stop the band. Shortly after settling on the name Upskirts they were joined by Curly (Robert from Graabein) on bass. Based on their playing style and lyrical content they coined the term Dirty Fuckin' Rock 'n' Roll to describe their genre. This also became the name of their first recording - now known internally as the recording we don't talk about. Not long afterwards they also recorded a new EP, Groupies. Changes After recording Groupies conflicting schedules led to Curly leaving the band. Shortly afterwards Slow Ed took over bass duties. Ed brought an even dirtier sound and personality into the band and they went to the studio for the third time and recorded the EP Sidewalk Susie. This EP contained 2 re-recordings, the truly dirty Barely Illegal, the hard and loud Bleed For It and the crazy and super aggressive No Compromise. Some months after the completion of Sidewalk Susie, Kim decided to leave the band to focus on other things. The band decided that their style and sound fit a 4-piece and decided to not recruit another guitar player. Tired of working on a tight schedule in the studio, the band decided to record and mix their next EP in their own rehersal room with their own requipment. The lazy bastards definately took their time and about a year after they started they finally had the EP No Compromise in hard copies. This album contains a re-recording of the song What I Want and 5 new hard-hitting songs: The self-explanatory One Night Stand, the honest Liar, Backstage Encore, Too Many Girls and Alcohol. Latest The band started working on their latest release - Live In My Basement - during the summer of 2008. Being lazy bastards the recording took it's time. Between gigging they decided to change things up a bit and during a weekend of December 2008 quickly wrote and recorded two songs which ended on a christmas release. The songs were Fuck Off It's Christmas and True Norwegian Church Pisser. Live In My Basement was finished off and sent to the press shortly after. This EP is recorded 100% live with no overdubs to capture the true live feeling of the band. Release date is February 20th! If you really want to know about the band - listen to the music. It says it all. Check out the audio section, read quotes about the band in the press section. But most importantly, if you wanna know what the band is really about, come see a fucking show!
