Rodrigo Vaiapraia (Setúbal, 1994) has a degree in Art History from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Lisbon. Since 2013, he has been a musician and performer as Vaiapraia. In 2014 he co-founded the cultural association Maternidade, where he worked as a music programmer and event promoter. He is one of the mentors and coordinators of Rama Em Flor, a queer feminist community festival. Between 2012 and 2014, he wrote about music for the French magazine I Heart, the Australian website Yon Plume and the Portuguese website Punch Magazine. He composed music for theater, in collaboration with Helena Fagundes, for the play “The Gypsybird Speaks” by Derek Scott Mitchell (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 2013) and for the show “You Need Heart To Play This Game” by Plataforma285 (Teatro Maria Matos, 2018). He composed music, collaborated on the text and sound design of the short film “Cruising In The Park” (2018) by António da Silva. Between 2015 and 2016, he did research and writing work for the new website of the Ernesto de Sousa Center for Multidisciplinary Studies. Since 2018, he has been writing for cinema with Tomás Paula Marques. In 2019, he was a prop and stagehand in the opera “Romeo and Juliet” by Charles Gounod and stage director for several events at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
