Wicked Charm
Vampiria is a Melodic Black Metal band from Olavarría, a small town 400 kilometers south of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The band was formed in April 1997 and initially played a mix of Doom/Death Metal with influences from traditional heavy metal. Shortly after their formation, the addition of a keyboard player and a soprano vocalist marked a significant shift in their sound. This change allowed Vampiria to evolve towards a style blending Symphonic Black Metal, Dark Metal, and Gothic themes. Musical Development and Key Members Throughout the years, Vampiria has featured several soprano vocalists, with Daniela Ison currently handling the role. Daniela also contributed to the recordings of the band's first album, solidifying her place as an integral part of Vampiria's early legacy. Early Releases The band's first release was a four-song demo tape titled Legacy in Blood. This demo caught the attention of the label Icarus Records, laying the groundwork for future collaborations. In mid-1999, Vampiria contributed the track Grull Has Arrived to the compilation CD Supernatural Extremities Vol. V, released by the Argentinian magazine Grinder. Debut Album: Among Mortals In April and May of 2000, Vampiria entered the studio La Nave de Oseberg to record their debut album, Among Mortals. The album features over 53 minutes of powerful, emotionally charged music with strong production values. Its cover art was crafted by the renowned design team Temno Un Art, known for their work with bands such as Fall of the Leafe, Sorg, and Arachnes. Among Mortals was first released in Argentina in December 2000 through Icarus Records. In March 2001, the album was re-released in Europe as a Digi-Pack edition, including a bonus track, under War Is Imminent Records (Spain) through a licensing agreement with Icarus Records. Lineup Changes and Second Album In May 2001, guitarist and vocalist Demian left the band for personal reasons. Despite this, the remaining members—Konde, Iván, Johann, and Oswalth—entered the studio La Nave de Oseberg in July 2001 to begin recording their second album, signaling the continuation of Vampiria’s journey in the metal scene.
