There are at least two different artists using the name Wingz. 1. an Austrian drum and bass artist. 2. a Tunisian underground rapper. 1. Wingz, born Markus Kocar, is an Austrian electronic music producer and DJ based in Vienna, specializing in minimal, technical drum and bass. Self-taught since 2013, his production approach emphasizes sound design, crafting drums and basslines from scratch rather than relying on samples. Influenced initially by artists like Pendulum and Mefjus (who encouraged his transition into production), his style evolved to incorporate atmospheric elements from Rival Consoles and Burial. He is a core artist on the UK label Overview Music, releasing EPs and his 2024 debut album Ghost, which explores introspective themes and features vocalists like Collette Warren. His work also appears on labels like Flexout, Dispatch, and The Mob Recordings. 2. Wingz is an underground Tunisian rapper active since 2020, affiliated with the collective/label Pas Comme Eux. Known for his experimental, aggressive style and eclectic approach - uncommon in Tunisia’s mainstream hip-hop - he frequently collaborates with fellow underground artists like XIIVI and BAXV. While not widely recognized nationally, he holds significant respect within Tunisia’s niche rap circuits.
