Born (1988) in the Boogie Down Bronx, where Hip-Hop found its hype. His name is Lovett “Vett” Evans. His passion and love are music. Lovett’s father, Wayne Evans played a significant role on his influence in becoming a music producer. Producing music was past on through his bloodline. Since his childhood, Wayne Evans was known for drum playing throughout the streets of Harlem. Lovett was raised on his father’s stories of working with Teddy Riley. Lovett, like his father wore many hats in his band. He went from the drummer, to the keyboardists and then manager. His mother was a dancer, his grandfather worked at the Apollo and was the alto in a doowop crew. 2012 marks Vett’s tenth year of composing, producing and engineering. Eager to start since 4th grade, Lovett says, “When I was in elementary and Junior high school all I could remember was how hype the crowd was while I was banging on the lunch room tables.” It was then that he knew what he wanted to do as a career. During his freshman year in The Bronx Guild High School he used the school’s resources to research ‘how to make beats’. He started out using FL Studio 3.5 and as his skills developed, Vett has mastered software’s like Reason, Protools, and Logic Pro, all of which are incorporated into his production. Vett’s name went Viral as soon as he started to exploit his sound on the web. Reaching #1 chart positions on websites like Sony’s Acid Planet 2-4 times a month. In 2004-2005, Lovett interned at Mantis Media, formally known as Native, LLC. In his early days at Mantis Media, Lovett found himself unhappy; he wasn’t doing what he intended to do. Instead of being on the creative side of the work, he was mopping floors, organizing media closets and running to stores to pick up ink for the printer. After a few months of running errands, Craig Chan, his mentor noticed Lovett’s dedication and strong performance. From time to time, his mentor would ask him to setup for a session. Vett says, “I knew that if Craig was asking me to complete small tasks, Craig would eventually let me do something more important and meaningful to me”. So he stuck it through and eventually landed his first project as the assistant in the writing and recording session for the TV commercial jingle “Baby Bottle Pop.” Although Vett was un-credited, he appreciated the experience. He made a lasting impression and now Craig is apart of his network. In 2006, after graduating from high school, Lovett took part in starting a record label with a (Rene Lopez) Melo and (Rafael Segura) Tunez. Focus Entertainment was the idea but for legal reasons they couldn’t use it. So they named it “Xposja Entertainment.” Vett and his friend, Melo, joined forces with a few more experienced professionals. Xposja Ent grew rapidly and at its height, Vett was working with nine artists as a producer, songwriter, and engineer. As the company started to unravel due to conflicting ideas, Vett stayed committed to the work he was doing with the artists and Melo ventured off and established his own record label Down Pac Ent. Eventually, Vett stepped away from Xposja, leaving on good terms with all the players. In early 2008, Lovett captured the ears of Jose Melendez, studio owner of Audemus Studios. When Jose heard Vett’s sound he heard promise. Jose hired Vett as a recording engineer to help him gain more hands on experience and an opportunity to take his career to another level. Vett is still working at Audemus Studios, but now as a partner with his partnership company Da MVPz. Da MVPz became entity in February 2012. His partners are Rene “Melo” Lopez and Frank “Keylow” Santiago. Vett has produced or recorded tons of songs for artist like, Team Bedrock, Impiro & Cru [Good Look Ent], Caspa Narkz [Black House Records], Courtland Cartel, CharyAry [D Block], Fred The Godson, Smoke DZA, Troy Ave, Carlos Gonzalez and more. You may have heard his work on MTV Tres or more recently Tosh.0. For 2012 YaBoyVett is only expected to shine brighter. On a recent collaboration with Caspa Narkz & Johnny Roset Cervini of Black House Records, Vett gained the attention of the Head of Urban Music for Atlantic Records, Mike Kyser, for co-producing a smash hit cross over single “In My City”.
