Tales from the Shades, Pt. 2



Zirkonian is a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Nicky Walraven. Since she felt that she coudln't put all her ideas and inner thoughts into the songs she was playing in her other bands, she decided to write a cd on her own. At first, it was mainly a hobby project, but since she liked the songs so much she felt like she had to share it with the rest of the world. In 2008, the first demo 'Inner Silence' was released. This demo was all home-recorded, and Nicky did everything herself, including singing. In 2009, a second demo got released, called 'Mind Control'. Again, Nicky did all the work on her own. Then, in 2009, Nicky met Mark Rog and Magda Dullemond while playing in various bands. She decided that the third demo/EP (whatever you want to call it) had to have a more professional sound. That's when she asked Magda Dullemond as main vocalist and Mark Rog to be the main guitarist for the project. After hard work and a lot of personal defeats, Tales from The Shades finally got finished at the end of summer 2012. Zirkonian is best described as female fronted melodic metal. There are quite a lot of influences, like Symphony X, Mechanical Poet and Iron Maiden. Read more on Last.fm.
