HUMANS CRY A LOT

Arcam's recordings are formed entirely of sounds originating the guitar, although appearing in a modified form having been digitally re-rendered through extensive laptop processing to form tones, drones, swells and surges, resonant textures, clicks and cuts. Moorings, Arcam's first EP, is a collection of songs about the sea, home, dislocation, travel and loss. all of the songs on Moorings began life as loops recorded on 4 track tape over the course of several years before being digitally processed and re-sequenced in 2007. Arcam's debut album August was released on 9 May 2009 to coincide with the opening of visual artist Joel Clifford's exhbition Arcam at Orange Dot Gallery, London. The exhibition featured 9 images produced in response to each track from August. Recorded intermittently between 2007 and 2012, the album was written as a single composition in which each track contributes to an overarching narrative exploring themes of time, memory and loss. Titles reference changes in seasons and the sea is a recurring metaphor. August is on sale at www.arcam.bandcamp.com. Read more on Last.fm.
