Hoavi is the alias of Kirill Vasin, an electronic musician and producer from Saint Petersburg, Russia. Active since the early 2010s, when he founded his own label Shells Rattle. Besides Hoavi, he has also released music under the alias A.B.S.T.R.A.. His music draws from familiar reference points — deepest dub techno, atmospheric ambient, and liquid drum'n'bass — approached with a singular and refreshing point of view, blending new age and dream pop into densely immersive soundscapes. Stylistically, Vasin works at the intersection of LA-influenced beat music and cassette ambient psychedelia, carefully constructing textures and melodies as sonic collages. Hoavi has released on labels including Peak Oil, Balmat, Fauxpas Musik and Quiet Time, and hosts his own radio show dedicated to Russian electronic music on Los Angeles-based radio station Dublab. He has also worked on sound design for brands including Gucci, GQ, Buro 24/7, Farfetch and TAG Heuer. In 2023 he joined the Moscow-based label Gost Zvuk, releasing the mini-album Phases. His 2021 album Invariant on Peak Oil was ranked 4th in Inverted Audio's Best Albums of the Year. In 2026, Architectonics was released on Peak Oil, inspired by Indonesian gamelan music — Vasin drew from the tradition's methodologies and rhythmic forms to craft a hybrid sound that is sinuous, subtle and distinctly dubby.
