mehro, real name Sam Sturges (born 10 November 1999), is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Los Angeles, USA. As a teenager, mehro started learning to sing in a choir, and it was only when he was eighteen that he began to play the guitar and write his own songs. His music is characterized by its emotive quality, allowing fans to connect with the raw emotions he expresses through his lyrics and melodies. His approach to music stems from a deep sense of sensitivity and the need to release the myriad of emotions he carries within. He cites Elliot Smith, Frank Ocean and Phoebe Bridgers as his main inspirations. When it comes to his artistic identity, mehro intentionally spells his name in all lowercase letters, reflecting his preference for actions to define him rather than words. In February 2020, mehro released his debut single “perfume”. With its melancholy acoustic guitar licks and love-struck lyrics, it has since become a bona fide indie hit with over 10 million streams on Spotify. The debut was followed by the singles “hideous” in July and “lightening” in October. Then, in February 2021, he released his last single “chance with you” before announcing the release of his debut project SKY ON FIRE, released on March 25, 2021. His Spotify playlist, Stay Pure, not only showcases his own music but also highlights his favorite artists, creating a sense of community for his fans. He went on his first US tour in 2022.
