Oxis is the musical project of Los Angeles-based producer and singer-songwriter Valentina Cy, an independent artist known for a prolific output of intimate, DIY electronic pop often described as marine electronica. Debuting in 2023 with the single Fish, Oxis quickly established a cohesive visual and thematic identity, naming nearly every song after an underwater creature and consistently featuring fish on the album covers of her numerically titled, self-released series (Oxis 1 through Oxis 8, with Oxis 9 announced for mid-2026). Her music blends sombre, confessional songwriting with layered electronic production, built during live performances through a compact setup of electric guitar, a BOSS RC-505mkII Loop Station, and a Roland VT-4 Voice Transformer. Lyrically, her work explores heightened coming-of-age emotions, delivering vulnerable, stream-of-consciousness narratives across shifting soundscapes that move from sparse loops into glitchy synth passages and pulsating beats. Oxis has performed at prominent venues including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Hollywood Bowl, appeared at the Sounds That Move festival, and opened for acts such as Magdalena Bay and The Voidz.
