zalagasper (previously known as Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl) is an award-winning Slovenian duo consisting of vocalist Zala Kralj and instrumentalist Gašper Šantl. The duo was formed in 2017, when Šantl met Kralj on Instagram while searching for a vocalist for his song Valovi. Kralj was originally credited as a featuring artist on the track, but the duo officially formed and signed a contract with Universal Music Slovenia in April 2018. Their debut EP, Štiri, was released in Febuary 2019. In the beginning of 2019, the duo presented the song Sebi on Evrovizijska Melodija 2019, the Slovenian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, held in Tel Aviv, Israel. They went on to win the selection with 72.89% of the televote from the public in the Superfinal round, therefore became the representative of Slovenia in the contest. In the first Semi-Final on 14th May, the duo received 167 points from the voting, advancing them into the Grand Final on 18th May, where they placed a respectable 15th place with 105 points. After their participation in Eurovision Song Contest, they announced a new band name; zalagasper as it would be easier to pronounce for the non-Slovenian audience. Read more on Last.fm.
