上原ひろみ

Jazz pianist Hiromi Uehara (上原ひろみ) can be seen as a modern interpreter of the kind of ideas put forth by Oscar Peterson and Ahmad Jamal. Her busy, highly technical style is infused with original touches, however, including funk, pop, rock, and classical influences. She has occasionally augmented her preferred trio format with saxophone or guitar, but mainly sticks to just a drummer and bassist (usually electric), and supplements her piano with electric keyboards from time to time.
