3rdClassAliens
3rdclassaliens happened to be the slightly unflattering description of a group of nameless extraterrestrials in the credits of Bad Taste, infamous debut feature of world-famous director Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings). Old school chums and avid film buffs Brendan Erler and Fabian Finsterer, born and raised in the world´s reputedly largest coherent region for hop cultivation (Hallertau in Bavaria/Germany), felt magically drawn towards this moniker and decided to make electronic pop music under this name henceforth. Although both soon swapped the quiet countryside for more cosmopolitan spheres (Berlin), this spatial division proved no great obstacle to the dedicated musicians thanks to the wonders of modern production and communication technologies. A peculiarity which crops up in our name and finds its way into our songs (via sounds and samples) is our affinity to films, a tendency to play with movie history, blending elements of cinematic and musical culture. To us this is not a dogmatic requirement, but rather a conspicuous facet of our spectrum of electronic pop music -a mixture of programmed beats, samples, synthesisers and instruments played by hand. Nevertheless, we were extremely pleased to hear that our use of film samples from Bad Taste received very positive reactions in the Peter Jackson fan scene. Read more on Last.fm.
