Blumentopf
Blumentopf (flower pot) was a German hip-hop band founded in 1992 in Freising. They released their first album Kein Zufall in 1997 through Four Music, where they remained under contract until 2009. Starting in 2010, they were signed with the record label EMI. On October 23, 2015, they announced their breakup on their Facebook page. Their last concert took place on October 22, 2016, in their hometown of Munich. Since their founding in 1992, the band consisted of the four rappers Cajus Heinzmann, Bernhard Wunderlich, Florian Schuster, and Roger Manglus, along with DJ Sebastian Weiss. Their first release was the 1996 EP Abhängen, followed by their first album Kein Zufall in 1997. The single 6 Meter 90 from this album did not make it into the single charts, but its music video was played frequently on music television. Their second album Großes Kino, released in 1999, reached number 21 in the album charts. Once again, the singles Fensterplatz and Was der Handel were played on VIVA and MTV, respectively, but did not chart. The singles (Liebe und Hass and Better Life GmbH) from the subsequent albums Eins A (number 16 in the album charts) and Gern geschehen (number 7) met a similar fate. Only the single Horst from the fifth album Musikmaschine brought them their first entry into the top 100 of the German single charts. The song Platz 80 humorously commented on their previous years' failed attempts to achieve this. Roger commented on this with the words: We are an album band, our singles never sold well. The band gained nationwide attention through their collaboration with the German public broadcaster Das Erste during the coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. On the show Sportschau, the German World Cup games were commented on in the form of a song, which was broadcast after the games and referred to as RAPortage, a play on traditional reporting. This concept was continued for the 2008 European Championship, the 2010 World Cup, the 2012 European Championship, and finally the 2014 World Cup. Their seventh studio album, Nieder mit der GbR, was released on September 21, 2012. The single Rosi, recorded together with Günther Sigl of the Spider Murphy Gang, continued the story of the song Skandal im Sperrbezirk. In February 2015, Blumentopf released an album titled #hmlr together with Texta under the group name TNT. On September 18 of the same year, a joint album by Roger Manglus and Florian Schuster, alias Roger & Schu, titled Clap Your Fingers was released. On October 22, 2015, a video announced the band's breakup and a farewell concert a year later. This concert took place on October 22, 2016, at the Zenith in Munich.
