CHAEYOUNG

Son Chae-young (Hangul: 손채영; born in April 23, 1999), better known by her mononym CHAEYOUNG (Hangul: 채영), is a South Korean singer, rapper, and songwriter. She is the main rapper and one of the sub vocalists of the girl group TWICE (Hangul: 트와이스). CHAEYOUNG was born in Seoul, South Korea and is a South Korean by birth. Her real name is Son Chae-young. After a successful audition to JYP Entertainment which took place on June 6, 2012, CHAEYOUNG trained nearly three years before becoming a contestant on the 2015 show, SIXTEEN, where she was announced as a member of TWICE in the finale. During her trainee years, Chaeyoung appeared in the music videos of GOT7's song, Stop Stop It and MISS A's Only You. On June 10, 2025, according to Joynews24, a known Korean news outlet, JYPE confirmed that CHAEYOUNG will be the fourth member set to debut as a soloist in later half of the year, followed by NAYEON, JIHYO and TZUYU. In an interview with Laura Sirikul from Forbes, it was mentioned that CHAEYOUNG will debut at the end of the year. On June 10, 2025, it was confirmed by JYP Entertainment that CHAEYOUNG will be the fourth TWICE member to debut as a soloist. On August 7, 2025, TWICE’s official X account shared a behind-the-scenes teaser featuring CHAEYOUNG in the studio, along with the album’s release date.
