Illørn, born Sascha Gawrilow, is an electronic enthusiast and sound creator from Leipzig, Germany. Born in Frankfurt / Oder in 1979, he became infected with the emerging electronic sounds of the early 90s. With the purchases of his first dance singles and long players, he was particularly inspired by acts from the genres Dancefloor or Eurodance that were emerging at the time. Among others, these included Dr. Alban, Snap !, Ace of Base, Cappella, Culture Beat, Reel 2 Reel, U96 or Haddaway. In the further course he found access and ultimately the love for the techno and electrical scene, which had an enormous heyday from the early to the mid 90s, through print magazines like Frontpage or Raveline, which were the defining names of the scene at that time. But also about TV formats like Housewrau on VIVA with the DJs Mate Galic and Sabine Christ or Chillout-Zone, Party Zone and Chillout Zone on the music channel MTV. In his tracks you can hear these influences from, for example, Joey Beltram, Westbam, The Orb, The Future Sound of London, Orbital or Sven Väth. Sascha was particularly enthusiastic about Studio K7's famous X-Mix series, which was curated by Paul van Dyk, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Dave Angel, DJ Hell, Dave Clarke and other well-known DJs. The interplay of the booming beats and the visualization attracted him more and more. For him, the genre techno quickly became not just a musical genre for monotonous partying, but rather a philosophy of life. In addition to regular club visits to his later "homeland of youth" Thuringia, he was particularly overwhelmed by major events such as the Loveparade Berlin, Mayday or later also sun moon stars in Saalburg and others. Throughout his life, the originally trained painter and painter, now practicing educator, experimented with sounds and sound effects. However, he never aspired to a musical career. He only published various smaller sampling pieces or DJ sets under his pseudonyms Mr. Sushi or sushi extract on platforms such as Soundcloud, Mixcloud or Last.fm. Electronic music has been and remains an important element for him to give everyday life and his life a special touch. He has been actively following the development of the scene for almost 30 years. Sascha started producing new pieces again in 2019, now in his 40s. He publishes these today under the name Illørn. His music project does not follow any clear structures in order to establish himself in styles, genres or even professionalism. Illørn only offers him the platform to form personal impressions and creative diversity through electronic music, acoustic, danceable pictures, in order to encounter new sounds and creations from which small works can be created.
