Mahavok

Mahavok is a legendary Estonian pop-rock and synth-pop band that first rose to prominence in the early 1980s. Originally formed under the name Spiraal, the group's name is an acronym derived from the original members' surnames (e.g., Karl Madis, Kalev Aas, Sven Himma, Raul Vaikmaa/Raul Arras, and Heini Vaikmaa). Led by guitarist and composer Heini Vaikmaa, the band made waves after winning the renowned television competition Kaks takti ette in 1981. Paired with the distinct vocals of lead singer Kare Kauks, Mahavok became a staple of Estonian and Soviet-era pop-rock, later heavily incorporating electronic synth-pop and new wave elements.
