Nume

HISTORY... It all started on a fine autumn day when Wellu, Juha, Eero and Ulle began brainstorming over making a ReallyGoodTM rock band. After the first jamming sessions they already had the first songs taking shape. The very first song was Silence Suits Me which also ended up being the name of the first EP. Then one day talks about recording the first songs started to emerge. In no time the artist also known as Mikko "Ulle" Soukkala was on the phone with a friend asking for help in the recording process. And off they went, to the dark dungeons of... the recording studio. The Silence Suits Me EP consists of the first three songs the band has ever made. Silence Suits Me, Hammock and Offside-trap. In the later stages of the recordings the group thought they might need some outside help on backup vocals. A call was made to Tuukka, a fellow they already knew from the past and who was more than willing to help. A few days after receiving the unfinished songs, Tuukka was doing his thing in front of the microphone. Tuukka decided to put it all in and asked Ulle if there was even a slightest possibility of Nume needing a second guitarist and a backup vocalist. After a brief discussion with the rest of the group, they all agreed on putting a stop to Tuukkas whining and let him be a part of the Band. The band called Nume now consisted of five people. The first EP was released late June 2005 with a whopping 200 copies. It didn't take too long for them to run out. The bands gig calendar was filled with gigs throughout summer and fall. It prepared them for the gigs to come. It was decided that rather than making more copies of the first EP, it would be better to head once again for the recording studio. In October 2005 the recording of the next four songs started. The songs were At the Shallow End of the Pool, Injury Time, Deny You and One More Please. Recordings progressed in small pieces ending in early 2006. Joonas Naskali, Jukka Ruostila ja Sami Arola of Lumme-Tuotanto were selected to handle recording, mixing and producing of the next EP. The second EP, Contender, was released in February 2006 and there are no signs of things slowing down for Nume. Read more on Last.fm.
