Visit Sysense's Blog for all his sets in 320kbps. Sysense began his journey at sixteen, during a tumultuous time in his life when he contemplated ending it. A transformative experience occurred when he entered a Houston dance club and heard The Smiths' How Soon Is Now, captivated by the DJ's influence on the joyous crowd. In that moment, Sysense discovered his calling: to bring happiness to others and provide a respite from their troubles, if only briefly. He invested in turntables and records, embarking on a self-taught mission to master song blending, despite initially struggling with beat-matching. Fortuitously, a seasoned DJ mentored him, imparting the fundamentals of beat-matching, blending, and mixer usage. Sysense also absorbed techniques from other DJs' mixtapes, gaining insight into the musical narratives they crafted. Dedicated practice sessions were recorded on various media—tape machines, reel-to-reel, and notably, the VCR, his preferred method. These recordings, replete with more failures than successes, were crucial for refining his craft. Eventually, Sysense felt prepared to share his vision with a broader audience. His debut performances took place at a modest bar/club, home to a small but dedicated electronic music community. Their leniency towards his errors provided Sysense with the space to further develop his talents. He remained the resident DJ there for a decade, grateful to the owner for the opportunity to grow. The phrase Last Night A DJ Saved My Life resonates with me in every way. I aspire for us to continue sharing the spirit of love and great music across the globe and further. Sincerely, - James Sysense DeRosier. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
