“promise” by 2hollis is a very artistic piece about the stages of grief he (the character spoken of in the song) felt over the course of a breakup. The song starts with a slow and soft piano, and he explains he is meeting up with his significant other. He realizes she is crying, and slowly realizes its because of him. The song uses very punchy synthesizers (a major contrast to the rest of the song, which is made up of soft pianos and other instruments) to allow the listener to feel the same grief he feels over what he has done. Hollis Frazier-Herndon (born January 5, 2004), known professionally as 2hollis, is an American singer, rapper & producer from Chicago, Illinois. He first started making music in 2018 under drippysoup and rebranded into 2hollis in 2020. Various tracks from then are available on his SoundCloud page, but the majority have been deleted in late 2022, around the release of PLASTER. Currently, 2hollis largely creates music influenced by Electropop, Electroclash, Dance-Pop and other musical styles. He first gained attention for his 2022 album White Tiger, which was very positively received by fans. Hollis created multiple music videos for tracks from White Tiger, such as king of the darkness and safety. Multiple songs from his 2023 album 2 were featured in video games, with the song poster boy being included as part of EA Sports FC 24's soundtrack, and his track FORFEIT being featured in F1 23's soundtrack. He gained further popularity in 2024, after the release of singles such as crush and trauma and the subsequent release of his third studio album, Boy. In 2024, it was announced he was performing as opening act for Ken Carson's 2024 tour, The Chaos Tour. Following Chaos, Hollis announced his first North American tour; Leg One.
