3 Years of Nazca Compilation
Barcelona-based electronic artist beGun draws inspiration from his travels around the world in an attempt to capture the atmosphere of the cities, countries, and continents that he visits. beGun (aka Gunsal Moreno) shares a similar approach with U.K. producer Gold Panda in that both of their work reflects locations they had visited and the emotions they felt at the time. Although every record has a slightly different twist, beGun's production style and bass-heavy approach remain evident throughout. Moreno launched the beGun project in 2013 and released the San Francisco EP and the Shanghai EP, alongside a few additional singles. The title track from the San Francisco EP was awarded Best National Track of 2013 by the Spanish Independent Label Association. In 2014, the title track from the Shanghai EP was awarded Best National video by the same institution. Later the same year, and in keeping with his lightning-fast release schedule, beGun released the Mumbai EP; he then took a step back to work on a full-length album. Over a two-year period, beGun meticulously researched the music and culture of the African continent. The culmination of his work was his 2016 debut album Amma. The record was constructed in conjunction with a short film of the same name, which depicted 11 mini-scenes that reflect the album's track list. The album was released both on its own, and with a DVD of the film, both via Foehn Records. Read more on Last.fm.
