Boddika is the solo project of Al Green (a.k.a. Al Bleek) who, together with Damon Kirkham (Kid Drama) as Instra:mental, has earned a reputation in recent years as one of the most innovative producers in underground dance music. Breathing new life into the dusty old hardware of days gone by, Boddika's sound takes you back to a time when the distinctions between electro, house and techno music were far less apparent. His tracks are built for the dance floor first, combining a fresh take on the ancient rhythms of classic Roland drum machines with vintage synths and modern production techniques, including Techno Vybz. DJ support from diverse selectors like Skream, Loefah, Benji B and Mary Anne Hobbs has seen Boddika's music mixed with dubstep, techno, electro and juke, lifting live sets with a raw energy lacking in many of today's overproduced and computerised sounds.
