Written after learning about the life and death of Vicki Van Meter, this song is a tribute to a personal hero of Travis'. He had learned that the young pilot (the youngest girl to make a solo transatlantic flight at age 11) bore a striking resemblance to Kuu, a character from the anime series Haibane Renmei, which focuses on the lives of girls with wings and halos called "Haibanes". This inspired him to write a song which evokes a sort of "flying" feel, with lots of suspended chords and open, airy atmospheres. Read more on Last.fm.

Borealia is the solo project of Fishing For Pigeons guitarist Travis Lausch. It combines the atmospherics of bands like Rush and Devin Townsend with the compositional approach of Steve Vai and Frank Zappa, and adds the heaviness of Meshuggah at times. Though most of the tracks were recorded in 2006 and 2007, Travis finally chose January 2010 to release the Home EP for free via Last.FM and Facebook, among other sources. Read more on Last.fm.
